Because it has been illegal and false propaganda has been spread for so many years, there are plenty of myths about marijuana. Like all myths, some of them are based on fact, but many of them have no truth to them whatsoever.
1. Marijuana is a gateway drug that will get kids addicted to other drugs.
False. This was a scare tactic planted into the minds of the public in the early 1930s. Americans were fearful of Mexican immigrants and the possibility of their kids getting mixed up with the Mexican drug cartel. The government latched onto this fear and gave parents false information about the addictive properties of cannabis.
2. Marijuana cures cancer.
Undecided. There is medical science proving that marijuana can slow down the growth of cancer cells, but there is still much to be explored. Some topical ointments like RSO and CBD salves work wonders on muscle and joint pain, but science is still trying to figure out the link between marijuana and cancer.
3. Marijuana can help many ailments.
True. Humans have used cannabis for its healing properties for thousands of years, and science is finally starting to catch on. It can be used for any number of ailments, including but not limited to:
Nausea and vomiting
